“Entries hit 50 to the
2014 Canterbury Decorators
South Island Stockcar Championship”
Stockcar fans are in for a treat Saturday night January
18th with 50 of the South Islands best Stockcar drivers
determined to be crowned South Island Stockcar champion
for 2014. Defending champion Cody Teece of Nelson will
have his work cut out with over half of the entrants from
Woodford Glen. However Stockcar racing can change in a
flash so anything is possible and choosing a clear winner
is hard. Eastern States drivers are well represented with
plenty of entries lead by regular visitor to the Glen
Gavin Marshall in the 469e Ford powered car. Steve Biddulph
is another driver who knows his way around the Glen and
he returns in a newly acquired car that is very fast.
Whilst the Nelson representation isn’t high on numbers,
it certainly has quality. As mentioned above defending
title Cody Teece has entered to defend his title and along
with younger brother Keightley are very fast. Another
sibling duo from Nelson are 19n Adam Hall and 98n Dylan
Hall. Once again they head to the Glen with impressive
gear. Greymouth hopes are hinging on club stalwarts Hadleigh
Smith, Tony Stanton and Brian Hahn. This trio won’t
lie down with all three racing the increasing popular
Tank chassis. Invercargill’s lone entrant is the
experienced Mark Taylor.
Two groups of 25 cars will race two heats each with the
top 15 highest points scorers qualifying through to the
finals. The 30 car finals will be raced over three 15
lap heats with the driver scoring the highest accumulated
points after all three heats being crowned 2014 South
Island Stockcar Champion! Non-qualifiers will race in
a winner takes all final race over 15 laps. Hard hitting
Stockcar action at its best.
Racing starts 6.30pm Saturday January 18th. Adults
$15, Seniors $10 and a Family Pass (2 adults & up
to 4 children 14yrs & under) is just $30.
As always under 5’s are Free!
