Woodford Glen to Offer CPIT
Car Scholarship
Woodford
Glen is offering a scholarship in automotive trades
training at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of
Technology (CPIT) for a young person who dreams of firing
up for a career in the car industry.
The 30 week National Certificate in Motor Industry (Entry
to Motor Body Trades), which commences on February 11,
provides skills and knowledge to begin a career in the
automotive industry.
The scholarship will enable the lucky recipient to use
the qualification to apply for an apprenticeship contract
within the automotive trades and includes 160 hours of
work experience within the industry.
Woodford Glen Promoter Lewis Dawson says the scholarship
provides the opportunity to develop concepts and skills.
The scholarship recognises the recipients
passion for automobiles and transfers that into an
educational environment to develop a dynamic career. This
is an excellent occasion for Woodford Glen and CPIT to
share their innovative technologies through its
partnership, he says.
Woodford Glen is a hub for the automotive industry, and
as a result gives the scholarship recipient access to
people with oil in their blood. The scholarship will
offer support at a crucial time in their career
development, as it opens doors to many different
qualifications and vocations.
CPIT Chief Executive Neil Barns says the scholarship is
an excellent example of industry and community leaders
investing in the young people of Canterbury.
Were delighted at the partnership being
forged with Woodford Glen, he says. CPIT is
built on its close working relationships within
industries and the community, and this is a great example
of the synergy that can result.
Applications close on February 1, 2008. People interested
