Tribute to Jeanette Bolt
5th April 1948 - 14th June 2015
To Dennis and your family, from us all at the Woodford Glen Speedway Association please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Jeanette.
Jeanette leaves Woodford Glen Speedway as a legacy to her love of the sport and her enduring support and commitment to her family, to Dennis and his racing career.
The club recognises that without Jeanette’s valued input, countless hours of work year after year, the steady hand she placed on the organisation, and in the early day’s even personal financial risk, it would not be the organisation it is today, it may well have just been a shadow of what it has ultimately become.
The promotions and events that Jeanette pioneered have with stood the test of time and they are still some of the best-attended events season after season. This is evident no more so than in the iconic Battle of the Stocks. SuperStock drivers from all around New Zealand plead to get an invitation and go on a waiting list to race at the Battle, and once they are in they don’t give up their spot lightly.
The culture and direction that the club has been placed on as a family friendly entertainment venue, that balances the passion of its members to race as hard and as often as possible, and the paying publics right to be entitled to not just a race meeting but a full on racing experience, is one that the club will not deviate from anytime soon. Once again we owe a huge part of this direction to Jeanette including her commitment and passion to our club and our sport.
Woodford Glen mourns the loss of one it’s most influential life members and stands as one with Jeanette’s family to remember her. Ultimately she will live on in the minds and memories of those she has touched through her association with Woodford Glen. Her impact and legacy is so great that those thoughts and memories will not fade anytime soon. She will be missed as a wife, a mother, a grandmother and she will be missed as a friend, a mentor and as a life member by the club and all of those that cared for her within it.
Once again to Dennis and your family, thank you for sharing Jeanette with us.
In the words of St. John Chrysostom “They whom we love and lost are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are.”Dedications to Jeanette can be included here by emailing to the club via this link

From Pam & Roger Nees:
Good afternoon ladies and gentleman.
My name is Roger Nees and I would like to say a few words on behalf of the South Island’s Elf Super Cup Series.
Along with Ray Stewart, I also have Jeanette to thank somewhat for electing me into this committee position.
Jeanette always had that ability to get the most out of people she was involved with.
However I would never of expected as my first function in this role to be up here offering this eulogy for Jeanette.
To Dennis and all your family we offer our heartfelt condolences.
Jeanette’s passing will cast a shadow over speedway throughout New Zealand.
However it will linger longest in Kaiapoi and at Woodford Glen.
We all honour Jeanette here today, we will take a little piece of her commitment and her passion with us in our minds and in our hearts.
From Jeanette forming business partnerships and obtaining sponsorship’s to liaising with race teams and other tracks Jeanette always knew how to get people on-side.
Although seldom in the limelight herself she would always be working hard to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Right up to the recent Elf Super Cup Prize giving, Jeanette was on hand along with Ariana to ensure everything was just right.
And it was only ever for the betterment of Speedway, the clubs, the drivers, the crew members and the volunteers.
Speedway is what it is today because of the foresight and dedication of this hard working lady.
On behalf of all the drivers as we enjoyed our Saturday Night pastime we thank you so very much.
Rest in Peace Jeanette.Pam & Roger Nees

From Lindsay Richards:
Yesterday, Woodford Glen, and the New Zealand speedway community said farewell to Jeanette Bolt.
Jeanette and I served on many committees together over the years and, while it’s fair to say we didn’t always see eye-to-eye, I respected her commitment, dedication and absolute belief that everything she did was for the betterment of Woodford Glen, in particular, and speedway, in general.
Speedway has lost one of its most valued and dedicated servants, and I’d like to offer my personal condolences to Dennis and the family.Lindsay Richards

From Jonathon Healey:
A lot can be learned from Jeanettes approach to promoting a speedway track.
I used to have a copy of Motorsport Canterbury with Ron Blakemore back on CTV in 1998 where she appeared talking about Woodford Glen, unfortunately as far as I know it’s now gone. A shame as I would of course like to post it here.
However I remember some of her words which was "Keep all 3 essential things happy by giving good entertainment to the attendees (the public)" so her concern for the public getting their monies worth at Woodford Glen must of been what made the track what it was particularly around that time.
Ron Blakemore suggested to her that her approach to promoting was that "the public come first". She responded "Well if you keep the paying public happy, then the drivers are happy, and then if the drivers are happy the staff are happy, so you keep everyone happy it all rubs off and all 3 are happy, so the idea is to give good entertainment to the public."
That is clear I think mostly in years that have gone by at the track.
It’s clear she also wanted it to become a place where visiting drivers would want to go back again. Of course supported by the Riverlands Holiday park.
This coming from someone who attended Woodford Glen many times over the years although not recent years gone by.
I only wish I could find that video Jeanette appeared on Motorsport Canterbury on CTV many times to talk about Woodford Glen. A great show for regional Motorsport, thanks also to ex announcer at the track Ron Blakemore.Jonathon Healey

From Martyn Lumley:
To whom it may concern.
I was involved with Woodford Glen some years ago now. As I used to print the programme and dealt with Jeanette on a regular basis. My sincere condolences to her passing. A warm and generous woman.
My connection to the Glen was through a regular face at the Glen, Wayne Wilding, (helping me with the re-build of my 69 Camaro) whom has also now passed on. Two stalwarts of the sport.
RIP Jeanette.
