Best Pairs
14th January 2006
The Streetstock
Best pairs was run over three heats and provided the crowd with
plenty of car spinning action on Saturday night. Drivers drew
their pairing at the beginning of the meeting and raced to
accumulate points throughout the night. Overall winners Don
Garthley and Steve Kitto showed consistent form throughout the
evening. The Super Saloons had drivers Denis Bolt, Richie Taylor,
Trevor Elliott and John Lovelady return from their North Island
campaigns. The grippy track provided close fast racing throughout
the night with Denis Bolt winning the feature. Event three was
marred by a spectacular wreck when both Taylor and Lovelady
touched while racing for the lead sending Loveladys big
Mustang crashing into the fence resulting in a high speed
multiple roll, as a testament to the race engineering of the
Canterbury built car Lovelady was able to walk away unassisted.
