| Woodford Glen's A Grade Saloon
class was challenged tonight with the arrival of the
North vs. South Saloon Series. This series is being run
over three consecutive nights at Blenheim, Christchurch
and Dunedin. The north island team took all the wins and
the points lead after friday's round at Blenheim but
tonight went a long way to levelling the score with the
south island team placing well throughout the heats.
Steve Williams still produced a couple of wins for the
north so it will be "all on" for the final
round in Dunedin. The Streetstocks provided the crowd with plenty of action and the attraction of Malcolm Ngatai having a guest drive in the 18c Kiwi Car resulted in him becoming a big target for many of the other competitors. Steve Jackson had a good run among the stockcars and the Shark Attack CRX's of James Archbold & Darryl Foster featured well in the placing's of the Production Saloons races. However for my weekly DON Award (drive of the night) I have to pick Trevor Elliott out of the Super Saloons, purely because of his drive in the first race. He showed extreme pace and the car looked well dialed in to the track conditions. Next week Woodford Glen host the final round of the Nelson Tigers vs. Glen Eagles Superstock Teams for the McCall Trophy. See you there! Anne
