Moller
& Young Trophy Challenge
Saturday 14th October 2006
The season got a huge kick start tonight with the annual Trophy Challenge sponsored by Moller & Young Engravers. And what an awesome array of trophies they produced for the event. Natasha Rodgers in her 84c Modified showed what can be expected from her and the team this season, comfortably winning two heats and taking away 1st place trophy overall. 19c Malcolm Ngatai got the better of 3nz Mark Osborne to also win two heats and 1st place overall among the combined superstock and stockcar action. The Productions Saloon Trophy was won by Gerry Filius who just seems to keep dominating the class in his 68c Honda Prelude. The Ministock class came down to a coin toss reulting in 24c Darren Kerr being awarded the overall trophy win. The Streetstock class continued to entertain the huge opening meeting crowd with 63c Steve Jackson emerging with the winners spoils. 9c Marc Ryan and his team stamped there mark on the class early by taking the A Grade Saloon Trophy with three solid podium places and 891d Josh Boulton won the Super Saloon Trophy bolstered by several out of town cars which provided some very close racing. The fans were also provided the added spectacle of an extra Demolition Derby ... namely the "Undie 500" which included amateur drivers and students from Canterbury University.
