Canterbury Stockcar & Production Saloon Championships

Following in the footsteps of other women before her 65c Rhonda Katene-Hill took the spoils in the Canterbury Production Championships for this season. This has been won by several women in the past and yet again the usually male dominated sport of speedway has had to succumb to the pressure. Rhonda took the championship with a total of 54 pts just one clear of class stalwart 68c Gerry Filius and 22c Tony Aitken who had to decide their placings with a 4 lap run-off.

The points spread was a little greater for the Canterbury Stockcar Championships with 17c Vaughan Fairburn continuing to fill the trophy cabinet on 84pts. 9 pts behind on 75pts was 4c Stephen Bishop who managed to tip-toe through the minfield exploding around him for 2nd overall. Visiting driver 48gm Dave Terris took the spoils of 3rd overall back to Greymouth with him after accumulating 73pts.
